On my list of 43 things to do, becoming a lifeguard is #1. It wasn’t that this is my number one OHMYGAWD it MUST be done item… it just happened to be the first on my list. Two years ago during an internet excursion, I found a site called 43things.com. Reminscent of a “50 things to do before you die” list (and, later popularized by Hollywood as The Bucket List), I was hooked.  Essentially you can sign up at the site, create a list of “things” you wish to do and provide periodic updates on your progress. When you accomplish a “thing”, you cross it off and give it a review. A member since November 28, 2006, I’ve had over two years of ‘experience’ with 43things. Is it worth it? Have I done anything? On our way to pick up wood today for my office bookshelf, I was driving the truck our very gracious and kind neighbours lent us for the task. It’s a standard. And, it was at least a twenty minute drive to where we were going to get the wood. I had time to think a bit, about the wonders of driving a standard. And, I reminded myself of how scary it was to learn it. And, that I was glad I could drive a standard truck. In some parts of Canada, that’s a really sexy thang you know!
